The coaching layer

Athletes change when practice changes

Facilities and funding matter, but the daily training decision still belongs to a coach. Sabq documents methods that respond to Egyptian heat, calendars and uneven access to equipment.

Focused athlete preparing for a race
Sprints · Cairo

Hana El-Masry

Runs Night Lane Acceleration groups in eastern Cairo. Obsessive about first-step mechanics and allergic to copying European winter plans into Egyptian summers. Appears in our heat-adaptation series.

Runner on a long training route
Distance · Giza

Karim Naguib

Builds volume around Ramadan and dust alerts. His pyramid-pace charts are the backbone of our distance dispatch. Prefers quiet tempo loops to crowded Nile Corniche mornings.

Relay practice with baton exchange
Schools · Delta

Nour Hassan

Former school PE lead turned relay clinician. Designs exchanges that work on uneven playground asphalt. If your batons look like scrap metal, she still finds a drill.

What our coaching clinics examine

  1. Observe

Read the athlete, surface, temperature and accumulated load before prescribing.

  2. Explain

Give athletes a reason for the session so effort is not confused with chaos.

  3. Measure

Use simple timings and attendance patterns before expensive technology.

  4. Adjust

Change volume, recovery or venue when the environment changes the cost.
